Celebration rally in Seattle

Today was a hive of activity for all the cyclists at the University of Washington, a lovely campus with great architecture and gardens, massive trees all over, and a view over the bay with the city skyline in the background. After opening ceremonies the cyclists did a road safety course. In the afternoon we all gathered for a group photo against the backdrop of the gear truck. The weather was very hot and humid, but we were all thankful, for it is much better than rain, which is a possibility for Monday 30th. At the rally there were some touching moments, like when all cyclists kneeled in a circle, then surrounded by supporters and prayed over. There is great excitement amongst the cyclists, but also apprehension, as many are new(ish) to cycling and not very confident to tackle the hills. My view is to just focus on the next pedalstroke, the next turn, the next town - not to think of the loooooooong way ahead. This will surely be a journey of faith - I look forward to the challenge with positive trust in our faithful Lord Jesus! So at 9am we'll dip the tires in the Pacific at Golden Garden Park - and head out for the first day of 80km!
